Have you ever been frustrated with your low-flush power toilet? Having to flush the toilet two or three times after going to the bathroom can get bothersome quickly. Because of the low flush power, they are more prone to clogging, leading to more time spent using the plunger and wasting water in the process.

If you are tired of dealing with the hassle, it might be time for you to consider a high-power flush toilet to replace your existing one. And if you’re still wondering, “Do I need a high-power flush toilet?” The answer is yes!

Toilets fall into two categories: gravity flow and power (or pressure) assisted flush. The former is the most common type of toilet that relies on water inside the toilet tank, while the latter uses less water yet more force than a gravity-powered toilet. Here are a few things to consider if you are looking to upgrade your toilet with a high-power flush.

What Is the Difference?

A gravity flush toilet can store about 1.6 gallons of water in the water tank, with a flap that covers a hole at the bottom. When you flush, this flap rises and allows the water to flow through the hole and into the toilet bowl, producing a swirl of water that drives the waste down through the trap. A gravity flush toilet has enough strength to drive waste out into the sewer about 30 feet.

By contrast, a typical power flush toilet can push water at a much higher rate and has a flush force of over 60 feet. It does this by holding air in a pressure vessel inside the water tank that uses the water supply line to pressure and compress the air trapped inside. This is what creates a more powerful flush force than a standard toilet.

Types of High-Power Flush Toilets

When it comes to high-power flush toilets, there are a few different types of toilets made for homes. While they use different mechanisms, they all produce a higher flush force than standard gravity flow toilets.

  • Pressure Assisted: This is the most common type of power flush toilet that uses compressed air held in a pressure vessel inside the water tank to generate more flush force than a standard toilet.
  • Double Cyclone and Tornado Flush: These types of power flush toilets use pressurized jets at the bottom of the bowl to create a powerful vortex flush that pushes waste out of the trap and will help keep the bowl clean. The Double has two nozzles, while the Tornado has three.
  • Double Vortex: This also uses jets to create a powerful flush, with a nozzle at the top of the bowl and by the drain to create a powerful flow.
  • Siphon Jet: This method uses a small reservoir tank that you install alongside your other systems. Water is released from the reservoir using a vacuum pull to generate a powerful flush.

Pros of a Power Flush Toilet

There are many benefits to replacing a standard gravity flow toilet with a high-power flush toilet. They are more efficient, as you never have to flush more than once – which also saves water – and clogged drains are less likely to happen. When it comes to maintenance, they typically contain fewer moving parts, which means it is less likely to break down and require servicing.

Finally, there is less likely to be any condensation, as their airtight plastic tank design reduces any amount of sweat – unlike porcelain tanks in standard toilets – and is not affected by humid weather.
